Creepy Critter Pizzas

  • Ingredients

    • 2 small pizza bases
    • 1 small jar (200g) of pizza sauce
      Or why not have a go at our hidden veg pizza sauce
    • 50g grated mozzarella cheese
    • 50g grated mature cheese
    • Black olives
    • Your choice of toppings – we used baby spinach, assorted baby tomatoes and fresh basil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1. Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6 and line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.

    2. Place one pizza base on each tray before adding around 100g of sauce to each one.

    3. Using the back of a spoon, spread the sauce around the pizza, working it out towards to edges and leaving just a 1cm crust at the very edge.

    4. Combine the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses together, before dividing them equally between the two pizzas.

    5. Add the rest of your toppings, leaving a few spaces to add your ‘critters’.

    6. To make the ‘critters’ or spiders, begin by slicing the olives in half, lengthways.

    7. Place half an olive on to the pizza base, before slicing two more halves into strips. Place these into position to represent the spiders legs – you may find it useful to use the picture for reference.

    8. Create as many critters as your like to garnish your pizzas.

    9. Season the pizzas with a light sprinkle of salt and plenty of black pepper, before placing them into the oven for around 10-12 minutes. Your pizzas are ready when the crusts have turned golden and all the cheese has melted.

    9. Allow the pizzas to stand for 2-3 minutes, before slicing into 4-6 pieces to serve.
